N5 Sensors is an electronic engineering company focused on nanoengineered sensor arrays to selectively detect chemical hazards to meet the most demanding environmental detection challenges.
Scope
- Improve UI of an outdated platform
- Slightly improve UX without changing key features
- Introduce a basemap from ARCGIS
- Make system recognize the new devices coming to the market
Presenting the old system that needed a revamp
Increased building in the Wildland Urban Interface and climate change has led to more frequent, costly fires, longer wildfire seasons, and poor air quality. The 2020 Wildfire season cost US insurers over $7B.
N5Shield is an end-to-end architecture that leverages cloud-connected smarter sensors, artificial intelligence, an intuitive dashboard, and real time alerts to make communities safer and healthier.
For this project, the idea was to update the interface to a modern and interactive dashboard. I’ve created the Design System from ground up and the colors and shapes were based on the company’s website. The startup haven’t worked with designers before so I had to introduce the team to UX and UI thinking and process.
I’ve worked directly with the hardware engineers to provide the requirements and also iterating with developers to achieve the best in class product.
